Born in 1979 in Mauritius Island, Fred Grenade has been performing as a bass player and vocalist in different scenes and on different stages since he was fourteen years old. He is influenced by Jazz, Latin Music, Fusion, World Music and Sega, the traditional music of his country. He started playing in various five stars hotels in Mauritius and also performed at the Independence Day cultural concert. Fred also played with well known stars like Mauritian blues man: Eric Triton, Damien Elisa and a French drummer Francis Lassus or Jerry Leonide.

In 2007 he moved to China to continue his life in music. Fred played jazz and fusion in a four-piece band called Naturaljazz at Marriott Hotel Beijing. He also performed at the JZ club Shanghai and Jz Club Hangzhou, CJW Shanghai ,CJW Beijing during his China musical expedition. Fred is a professional soulful instrumentalist. From Jazz, Sega to Latin ,Fusion and World music which have taken him to one of the most famous music festival in the Indian Ocean such as: Sakifo Jazz Festival,  Blues dans Jazz Festival,  “Tour Autour du Jazz ” Festival 15th anniversary, Shanghai JZ Festival…

At this present time Fred can be scene on stage with the amazing Alec Haavik trio, ‘Friction Alliance’! The trio is composed of another great Mauritian drummer, Jhonny Joseph and the leader of the band hailing form New York city, on the tenor and soprano sax, Alec Haavick.
